Fundraising

Despite the economic challenges faced by Americans in recent years, WCF donors have continued to help the Fund remain financially stable. Although many non-profits face the prospect of cutting services due to financial shortfalls, our donor network of private individuals, San Francisco city employees and others have generously supported the children served by WCF.

Fundraising for the Workers' Children's Fund is accomplished through various methods. The Fund has 501(c)(3) non-profit status, and receives numerous donations from private individuals on an ongoing basis. In addition, several annual fundraising events have become a familiar part of the landscape in San Francisco's social services network. These include:

Image6The Annual WCF Softball Tournament fundraiser; The 2009 tournament is the 20th annual, and continues to pit employees of many departments throughout the City & County of San Francisco and community groups against each other for a weekend of fun and competition , all in a spirit of giving. The tournament serves the dual purpose of directly raising funds and publicity for the WCF, as well as providing a positive, familiar tradition. The tournament raises approximately $10,000 annually.  The 20th annual tournament was held the weekend of August 8-9, 2009. Stay tuned for more info on the 2010 tournament!. For more information, email us at workerschildrensfund@gmail.com

The annual San Francisco City Employees Combined Charities drive, in which City & County employees contribute through payroll deductions and one-time contributions.

An annual Wine-Tasting event that takes place in the Fall, and gives WCF supporters an opportunity to sample local vintages, socialize with like-minded philanthropists, while supporting San Francisco's foster youth.

Such benefits are an important piece of WCF's fundraising, and allow social workers and other supporters to give to the children, while enjoying time with each other.
